elements beneath the sky...

Owning 2 masks - featuring my true self & the other self... I've drifted from the normal path. Juz some thoughts, opinions, complaints, gossips, bullshits... beneath the boundaryless sky that we share.

Name:

I am... by my own standards... a simple, sincere, average-looking scopio who can be both quiet and crazy; one who needs time to warm up to people; a homebody; sometimes impatient and stubborn, and erm, a mech engineer who doesn't look and sound like one.

Corteo - Cirque du Soleil

I went to see Corteo* last night in Los Angeles, CA. The show and the performers were awesome. As the tickets were not sold out, we were upgraded from Level 3 seats (US$55.00) to Level 2 seats (US$80.00). How nice! To top it off... as it was part of the farewell for me, I watched it for free. So sweet of Sharon, Kal, Renee, Shirley, Keen, and dear Xian. (Luckily we got all the tics at half price, else it would have cost them a bomb). Really appreciated the farewell get together. Thks a lot =)

This is my first Cirque experience, and it is definitely not my last.

Click on the following long pic to see the spectacular acts that I've seen in Corteo.

*Corteo, which means "cortege" in Italian, is a joyous procession, a festive parade imagined by a clown. The show brings together the passion of the actor with the grace and power of the acrobat to plunge the audience into a theatrical world of fun, comedy and spontaneity situated in a mysterious space between heaven and earth. The clown pictures his own funeral taking place in a carnival atmosphere, watched over by quietly caring angels. Juxtaposing the large with the small, the ridiculous with the tragic and the magic of perfection with the charm of imperfection, the show highlights the strength and fragility of the clown, as well as his wisdom and kindness, to illustrate the portion of humanity that is within each of us. The music, by turns lyrical and playful, carries Corteo through a timeless celebration in which illusion teases reality.

I set off the fire alarm...

After pan frying some tiger shrimps, the smoke sets off the fire alarm. It shrieked so loud and almost scared the shit out of me. This wasn't the first time I hear the loud shrieking alarm but this was the very first time I've set it off. Will the firemen be activated? Will I inconvenience anyone? What should I do? How could I silence it? PANIC!!! PANIC!!! (I didn't know what to do except to stop cooking and wait. Phew! It stopped after a while. No one came.)

By then, the 'a-little-shaken-me' have already no mood to cook what I've originally planned for. I have already on the exhaust fan and set it to high - so I cannot comprehend why this can still happen. Is the smoke detector overly sensitive? In that case, they should incorporate a temporary disabling feature so that alarm does not just go off like this (see a patent on a Smoke alarm having temporary disabling features).

Damned! How can one cook if it sets off the fire alarm just like that?

Small Small Car

Sing to the tune of 'Big Big World'

From a big big car
To a small small car (see pic above)
It's not a big big thing if you aren't the outdoorsy type
But we do do feel
That we do do will
Miss Impala_SS much
Miss him much

Haiz, from Impala SS 5.3L V8 engine down to Malibu LS 2.2L four-cylinder engine only... no more leather seats, no more MP3 auxiliary input jack, no more artist and song title information on radio display, ... in short, everything just becomes smaller and lousier (the sound system hear liao also sianz) except for better fuel efficiency... but who cares if the company is paying?!? If I were Xian, I would change it back to Pontiac V6. This car, in short, sucks.

R.I.P my dear friend K.P.

K.i.m P.e.n.g (1977-2007) continued my fyp back in 2001 and that's how I got to know him. We were great friends since. He's one who always render help and never expect anything in return... His technical knowledge about bikes (both MTB & motorcycle) and a multitude of other stuff never fails to amaze me. I remembered... the times he accompanied Xian & me to buy my MTB, help me to get a better price, taught me what to look out for, sold me the lubricant he distributes at the cost price, help me tune my bike, introduce new places to explore both on bike and on foot, brought me to a few nice eateries for dinner/supper and gentlemenly sent me home each time, went in to JB to recee for the car rental for our kuantan driving trip, for being a nice companion on our kuantan trip, the happening jet-ski ride, the one and only badminton session we had together...

Thank you for your company, your advices and info sharing, your support over what I do, the little shrimps (and the irritating productive accompanying snails that you have warned me about) which I've scooped from your pond, the smileys that you have given me on my b'day, the interesting gossips/chats that we've shared over meals, and for being one of the few who really understood my complaints/displeasures over certain things...

It's really saddening to know that he has left us on 12th Aug.
R.I.P. my dear friend and thanks for being there for me when you were around.
