elements beneath the sky...

Owning 2 masks - featuring my true self & the other self... I've drifted from the normal path. Juz some thoughts, opinions, complaints, gossips, bullshits... beneath the boundaryless sky that we share.

Name:

I am... by my own standards... a simple, sincere, average-looking scopio who can be both quiet and crazy; one who needs time to warm up to people; a homebody; sometimes impatient and stubborn, and erm, a mech engineer who doesn't look and sound like one.

Grrr... it's so cold.

On my desk, it's around 20.9 degC...
At a slightly higher level (on the partition), it's around 20.5 degC...
The whole place is so cold that everyone had to put on a jacket...
But it's amazing why nobody give a damn (feedback)...
They chose to wear more and suffer in silence...
I also want to bochap but I couldn't...
Cold is bad enough...
I even could feel cold air blowing straight into me... worse!
My lab tech helped to get the facility pple in...
When they came, I do the talking...
Told them why they shouldn't just go in AHU and simply up the temperature...
If it affect the lab next door (extreme high heat load), they complain and you will be back in to lower the temperature... then we complain and you come back in to increase the temperature...
NEVER ENDING!!!
... until now... frankly, it's still cold, still feel cold air blowing into my exposed hands and face... but slightly more bearable... only slightly...
Let's see if we need to get them back in to adjust again...

Absent-mindedness almost cost him $300...

Ahhhhhhh, $300 almost flew away!!! FAINTED!
I took out his winter clothing from the bag to remove the price tags.
Then I asked: "Eh, where's your receipt?"
Luckily I asked...
If I never, he would have conveniently forgotten that he had thrown away his precious receipt...
Without receipt, cannot claim...
Then $300 will really be gone when his mum clears the waste paper basket in another day or two.
Tsk tsk tsk... so close!

Encounter with one who lacks EQ can make one vomit blood

Yesterday evening, I took B.'s vehicle home together with another gal. To be very blunt, a rich brag. One who's lacking in EQ in my opinion. As usual, everyone seemed to be very interested in what I'm doing... which is fine... which I'm quite happy to share (but really, how much can I share without making it overly technical?). But this fellow kept diverting to monetary benefits and stuff... "How much is the fees? How much are you paid? How much are the rest paid?..."
It's not a secret but I'm not comfy with the way she asked and naturally, I chose not to divulge... and that was met with a "Why?" which quite shocked me! And if all these aren't enough, she continue her quest to question if I'm really interested in what I'm doing even after I explained to her why I chose to do this project (and this was already done close to the start of the conversation).

*Puzzled* ... *Faint*
Haiz, seriously, I really have nothing much to say... I just don't feel like talking.

Hmm... I'm just pondering... not that I've very high EQ... but...
Do you, on your first day of work, go around asking your colleagues how much they are paid or what benefits they are getting?
Do you, upon knowing someone within less than 20mins, asked him/her how much he/she is earning after you know what he/she is working as?
Do you, upon being rejected by that someone who refuses to divulge his/her pay scale, follow up with a Why-cannot-let-u-know-kind-of-question?

Were we taught these? I don't think so... Usually if you know that person well, then don't say lah... but to a complete stranger that you barely know?

My question is: Do we really need to be taught such things?

Power smiley

To me, a non-electrical person:
large electrical components are for decorative fun...
small electrical components are for making insects...
hahaha... ;p

On a serious note:
These components are for the power supply of a powerful amplifier.

Pure coincidences?

What is the likelihood of two vehicles (Note: owners know each other but don't recognize each other's vehicle and planned to meet in Suntec but never coordinated the exact place to meet) parking side-by-side in a huge Suntec City carpark?

Pure coincidence? Or is there some divine indications? haha... I must rem to buy 4D ;p

************************************

What is the likelihood of having more than five birthday dedications in a restaurant on a single night within a span of about three hours?

For the very first time, I heard at about 5-6 birthday dedications within a single night and these are excluding mine lor. Where I heard them? Hard Rock Cafe!
Possible reasons:
1. No need to be on the exact day also can celebrate right... pure coincidences...
2. Hohoho... diners go to Hard Rock Cafe (HRC) just to celebrate birthdays?...
3. There are cheapo pple ard... cos HRC never checks if it's really your birthday or not, and it doesn't have to be on the exact day for you to claim a complimentary birthday sundae... so practically anyone can ask for one.

-----------------------------------------------

BTW, THIS IS NOT THE FREE BIRTHDAY SUNDAE...

Thank you for the dinner, the HRC tee, and most importantly, the fun that we had last nite!
(will update again once i get the pics fr Xi)

The Literate Idiot

The only time I had to read 'chapalan' stuff (e.g. magazines, novels, newspapers) is probably the time on the mrt. I'm about a quarter way through reading Memoirs of a geisha : a novel by Arthur Golden when I saw this...

What the fish... upside down...

Am I supposed to turn the book around, continue to read like nobody's business... and look like an idiot with an upside-down book to those sitting opposite me?

The librarian must be sleeping while 'mending' the book! I can't believe it. How could anyone missed this...

For the record, it's not just one section... last check, there were at least two sections which were upside down lor...

Should I share?

I took a simulation module in 2003. Yesterday, I passed my 2003 quiz question, model and run results (quite confident I'm correct) hrs before a quiz to a fellow labmate hoping that it could help her prepare & practice. Just 15mins before her quiz, I even gave a quick tutorial to explain those things in the question which she didn't know how to model. Guess what happen... BINGO! Perfect hit! It's the SAME qn lor. Nothing was changed, not even the probability distributions, not even the values, not even the 'story line'. What a lazy fellow!

KP said I should not pass my stuff from now on, it's unfair to others... true lah... You shld see how many pple 'stuggled/died' doing that particular qn... cos if one bases his/her revision on the one and only simple model that was taught, he/she would not score.

BUT How on earth would I know that the question is exactly the same!?! Right?
Share >>> not right...
Don't share >>> selfish...
So how?

i luv u

more than words can say...

My two little chipmunks are soooo cute... ;p

Hitchriding begins...

To hitch a ride, all I need is my thumb...
Nope, not to do this... but to SMS! haha ;p

Okie, I tried it just now. I sms b.o.b. to arrange a time to meet at the bus-stop outside my place. It's a paid (van) ride btw, NOT FREE. Considering the same price I pay for my bus-mrt-bus ride, the waiting time I save (easily 30mins), the convenience... wah, "tang dio" man!

This b.o.b. is quite friendly and easy to chat with, and this takes away all the uneasiness which I had initially. As I found out, it's actually a win-win situation for both of us... cos I gave him the 'push-factor' to not skip the earlier classes. And the world is actually quite small, or rather, Singapore is quite small... he told me his mum has the same surname as me and used to live in Jln Ulu Semb too! Hmm...

Complete idiot

While I'm comforted to have detected what went wrong, I irked at the oversight.
How could I miss that?
Sometimes I just felt like a complete idiot.

Triple Sighs...

Haiz, I just heard that my "bro" A. is applying for his legal separation soon. It sounded to me as though there's no hope for reconciliation.
Sad...

Haiz, I'm going to temporarily suspend my keyboard classes. No time.
Joyless...

Haiz, I still have not found an intuitive explanation for all the weird observations - have we trodden on undiscovered grounds; are there undiscovered bugs somewhere; or have we been looking at the wrong measures?
Miserable...

Three cousins in US...

I was chatting with SP (Xian's cousin) and he told me over MSN that he'll be going to Texas for good some time this Nov. I suspect this would happen since he never liked working in K.L. since his return. He can do so cos' he's a green card holder but his ah ma and mum would be very sad. His bro, SH, is in NY and I suspect he also wouldn't want to return to his homeland across the causeway. Initially I thought... eh, not bad, so when Xian go to California, at least they can arrange to meet up over there. But of course, alas, I almost forget that they are FAR FAR FAR apart. Hee... It's not like in Singapore where three person staying in Boon Lay, Telok Blangah and Pasir Ris can meet up with ease within an hour.
