Owning 2 masks - featuring my true self & the other self... I've drifted from the normal path. Juz some thoughts, opinions, complaints, gossips, bullshits... beneath the boundaryless sky that we share.

Name:

I am... by my own standards... a simple, sincere, average-looking scopio who can be both quiet and crazy; one who needs time to warm up to people; a homebody; sometimes impatient and stubborn, and erm, a mech engineer who doesn't look and sound like one.

My first choice FOR SIN-LAX-SIN: SQ direct flight, but too expensive... sob sob... OUT!
Summer vacation time... peak rates...
Between Northwest and Cathay Pacific, I chose to pay $92 more for the latter because of the following reasons:
(i) From past experiences, the long flight would be miserable without a personal TV. I hated those shared overhead TV. Yucks! According to SeatGuru, Cathay Pacific has wonderfully provided personal TV and laptop power (EmPower) for all their International Economy seats. Northwest only have the personal TV onboard their A330 (used bet SIN & Tokyo) with AC power on some seats only.
(ii) Food... heard there's nicer Chinese food on board Cathay Pacific...
(iii) I took Cathay Pacific before and it has been okay,
(iv) Skytrax aviation audit experts ranked Cathay Pacific as a five star airline, alongside SQ... but Northwest is only ranked three star...
Have made reservation for a tic...

Lack of sleep + plentiful work + smaller portion of food intake = slightly smaller me

Move lab again...

Need to move lab AGAIN!
KNS, this is the third time liao lor...
1st time: Move to another lab cos our lab needs to undergo renovation.
2nd time: Move back...
3rd time: Move to another lab... (work from home so no gossips to tell me why but as I found out thru YL, it's to make space for a club room).

Urghhh, this is a real hassle... shall make it the last move (by moving my stuff straight home).
Had already arranged with dad to get me a few boxes, borrow car car tonite...

On a separate note... just now 883 JIA FM D.J. was reading out my horoscope... it says: Today is good for moving things, moving house. FAINT! Such a coincidence. My lucky color is red... so maybe I should wear a red tee when I go to move my things =)

PacMan...

Reminds me of the 'gan jiong' PacMan game...

Front...
So cute...

Back... still cute...
Ignore the two chipmunks... they're not part of the tee.

believe it or not,
telepathically connected...

Twins - Part 2

Two eggs with twin yolks is a wonder...
Another two become horrendous...
High cholesterol aside (four yolks in my bowl of half-boiled eggs)...
Four out of ten eggs are like that. That's a whopping 40%... too high a probability for twins.
Imagine what they do to the hens!

Twins

I have never cracked an egg with twin yolks.
With only a handful of times I cook, I wouldn’t be surprised…
But my mum has cooked for forty over years, and this was just her first encounter.
Heh heh, my mum is sooo cute… she brought the bowl into my room to share with me her "twin" eggs excitements…
Cos there were not one, but two... =)

Two out of three eggs are twins... amazing!

Hmm, on a different note, if I ever decided to give birth one day…
I hope it will be twins (preferably one boy boy and one girl girl).

According to studies, family history does increase the chance considerably.
I also read an article which says that the chances of having twins increases with age as women produce more ovulation-stimulating hormone as they grow older (i.e. the chance of having twins rises to 4% between the ages of 30 and 34, and to 5% between the ages of 35 and 39).

Eh, family history checked (Don’t play play, my dad actually has a twin brother)…
Mum’s age checked…
Despite all these, how come we don’t have twins in my family?
How come no twins PongPong?
Maybe Xi Xi can try to have a “Made in Taiwan” twins. Hoho…

Pending Paper Status...

Haiz, rem the conf paper I "throw" out to "test water"...
It's not what we originally planned to do but it's what I wanted to do.
It has been reviewed but I will not know if it has been accepted or rejected until 4th Jun.

Working from home...

Working from home is so nice (minus the distractions from the tv and my comfy bed):

  • Previously Xi told me that the songs selection on 883 JIA FM are nicer cos' there're also English songs... I just realized how true it is. Even Pong realized it before me.

  • Listening to songs via speakers are much enjoyable than listening to them via earphones...

  • Home cooked food tastes so much more healthier and delicious than majority of the yucky canteen food... minus the part where I might grow in the horizontal sense.

  • Can work any time, eat any time, sleep any time, rest any time I like... my working hrs are as though I'm on night shift now.

Hmm... my current life is boring. Basically a one-man show.
Missing gathering because of work... sianz... I hope nothing will crop up on HQ's wedding cos' it happens to fall on the next day of an important deadline. *Pray*

Haiz... daily transition between eat, sleep, work, rest, shit... sometimes there's really nothing to update...

Get well soon, take care...

Something cheeky:
Heh heh... I just noticed that Ping has breasts when I'm adding the 3D heart...
Haha... luckily they're not on Pong. Phew!

Seriously I didn't noticed it during the photoshoot...
Was just trying to test some modes on my K800i back then.

Problematic...

Just as I expected, the Mio installation wasn't smooth. Two hours after installation, the Mio set top box DSL light keeps blinking... everything went down. No home line. No internet access. FAINT. After a few hrs of torturous tries, it's because of a microfilter. KNS.

In the evening, three patches of colours (two purple, one green) appeared mysteriously on my desktop (Deskie) monitor. It appears, as though, to add more colours to my life. The display discolouration must be work of the DLINK wireless adaptor (placed too close to the monitor?). I thought the monitor was close to gone-case cos the big colour patches are really an eye-sore. Seriously, I didn't know there was this function on my monitor called "Degauss" until I search the net. What it does, as I understood, is to induce a high current surge to create a magnetic field inside the tube to oscillate rapidly with decreasing amplitude to leaves the shadow mask with a somewhat randomized field thereby removing the discoloration. The high current surge is also the cause of the audible "thunk" which can be heard when degauss is in action. Phew! Solved.

Then, not sure because of Singnet, or because of blogger, the "Create Post" page is problematic until some genious suggested a temporary solution to change www to www2.

Mio...

Just now I was quite worried that Singtel might screw up my Mio installation date cos until now I have not received any passwords/letters from them. But luckily they didn't. They remembered to bill me but forgot to send me my required info. How nice. No wonder people always say "Only money matters". If not for hardwarezone forum complaints, I wouldn't have called them in advance to ask for my ID and password. But in general, everything else was fuss free. Hopefully nothing else will go wrong.

My Mio Speed Test... on turtle deskie

Somehow it's slower...
Has it anything to do with external wireless adaptor plugged into usb 1.0 port?
