Cable Ski Park (Singapore vs Batam)

Now I know the $2-million Cable Ski Park Ski360 is located in East Coast Park (within salt water East Coast Lagoon). That time who told me it's somewhere near Marina Bay?

Quote a line from an article "East Coast Park, 30, gets a facelift" (Nov 17) in
TODAY...

"For those with a taste for extreme sports, East Coast Park will be the place to go with the launch of Singapore's first Cable Ski Park around March next year."
Well, maybe yes and no. Looking at the charges, I have a feeling that I would choose to travel to Waterfront City, Batam to learn/practise wakeboarding. Traveling to Batam also have that "eh, I'm traveling out of the country feel too... (minus the part on the roaming charges*)"... Check out the price difference...
  • Estimated cost of one-hour tickets in Cable Ski Park Ski360 (Singapore): SGD$35-SGD$45 (Not sure if they have some other packages available...)

  • In Cable Ski Park Waterfront City (Batam): 1 Hour Ski Pass - SGD$15, Half Day Ski Pass (abt 3-4 hrs) - SGD$45, Full Day Ski Pass (abt 5-8 hrs) - SGD$60, Day Trip Package (incl. 2 way ferry, land transfers, full day admission, packet lunch (fried rice, noodles, etc), usage of all equipments, coashing my in-house instructors) - SGD$80. For the day trip package, you can also add SGD$35 for additional day of skiing.

Seriously, the only way Singapore can compete is only with better facilities/environment/service...

  • If you are only a beginner, you don't need any pro equipments/facilities... the basics will suffice. IMO, the cheaper rates matter. So maybe wakeboarders might spend most time training/practising in Batam's Ski Park and then show off in the Singapore's Ski Park. ;p
  • Salt water vs fresh water (eh, maybe not that fresh... it's enclosed lake water... with perhaps some amount of dish washing detergents in it - the detergents help to get feet into the tight wakeboard bindings)... You see, the water either gets into your nose or your mouth (at times when you fall) and with my contact lens on, I think I prefer the lake water into my eyes and nose.
  • I doubt the Singapore Ski Park have operators ferrying you back to the starting dock using scooters, what would they use - I wonder (btw, I'm just a novice - how would I know)?

I shall wait till March to find out...

*I will use the 我不听,我不听,就是不听你电话... mp3 as the ringtone there... to remind myself not to pick up your phone call... hahah ;p
