Stranger questioning our choice of drinks...

Sunday (27 Nov 2006)

We were too lazy to travel… so Xian & I went to Chong Pang hawker centre for dinner. There are many people and we sat at any seats we could find. Then there came an uncle.

Uncle: “要叫什么水吗?”
Xian: “Kopi”
Uncle: “Kopi 没有. 要甘蔗吗? 还是要barley?”
Xian: “huh, 没有 kopi. 不要.”

Then we proceeded to order our Fried Hokkien Mee and you tiao. Then Xian asked me what I want. Suddenly, he had the urge to drink Soya Bean. We usually drink hot soya bean but today I wanted a cup of cold “drain water”… hahah… I called it this way since I was in primary school… soya bean mixed with grass jelly drink. So I think he wanted to try and order one for himself as well.

When we were close to finishing our you tiao (still have a few pieces)… that uncle happened to pass by and suddenly began to nag and question Xian.

Uncle: “你不是不要喝冷水lor? 为什么还喝这个? 你不是要喝’烧’的meh?”
(I looked at him, a little impatient. Xian & I ignored him and continued eating.)
Uncle: “我刚才问你们又不要叫? 我们也有豆花水.”
(It seemed like he’s going on and on and on… and anyone who tell off Xian for no good reasons always made me super pissed off – he’s nice doesn’t mean you can bully him – hahah, only I can bully him… kekek…)
Me: “我们喝什么管你什么事?” (Xian said he thought he heard ‘屁’ instead of ‘事’… anyway, that’s besides the point)
Uncle: “我只是问…”
(Still say… I stopped him with a…)
Me: “问? 你把你的生意做好就好, 不要在这里多管闲事!!!”
(He left… but we know he’s still grumbling don’t-know-what…)

After he left, Xian told me “Wah, I drink anything still have to get his approval? I only drink the Soya Bean from that stall and I will only buy it from them. (Can hear that he pissed off too).
I added, “Yup, plus we are only seated slightly closer to them… doesn’t mean that we have to order from them.”

I thought soliciting business like this in a hawker centre is illegal? Previously, I still order sugarcane drinks from this stall… from today onwards, I will never patronize this Good Partner drinks stall (#01-137). NEVER!
