Delicious Seafood - My Remuneration

Saturday (26th Nov 2005)

Ever tried eating one whole fish in a western style using fork and knife instead of chopsticks and spoon? Blame me for being a mountain tortoise but really, I’ve never seen one whole fish in a western menu before. It is the curiosity of finding out the eating experience that resulted in me ordering a Grilled Baby Barramundi.

You see a 3/5 finished fish instead of a complete nice one because I’m naturally a shy person (hahah)… had to wait till less pairs of eyes (those waitresses/waiters) watching me – is it because they didn’t have many customers ordering this…

The barramundi (from Aust) is fresh and nicely grilled – there is no “muddy” and “fishy” taste. Served with lemon, olive oil, and herbs, it’s something new for me cos the ones which I tried are usually the steamed local version with soya sauce, ginger, pepper, etc.

Actually I think I prefer using chopsticks and spoon. Fork and knife is kind of weird and uneasy. Just imagine how you get a piece of bone out of your mouth onto the small plate that they provided specially for the bones… In this setting, you can’t possible spit it out just like that (“pui pui pui”). When I used the fork as transporter, the bone falls through the fork (alamak, clumsy-looking liao lah). As a fish-eating expert (fish head is still my favourite, especially curry fish head), I managed to finish up the whole fish “cleanly” and left its main skeleton intact. ;p After eating too much fish, I think the sautéed mushrooms are more delicious... haha…

And before that, I shared a bowl of lobster bisque with Jac. Pretty yummy though C&J commented that the best they tried were the ones they had in Germany. I quite like shape of the bowls… wondering where I could get my hands on a few…

And in their toilet, Jac found a fancy for their mirror… it’s still there because she has yet to find a way to “kope” it (just joking).

This meal is FOC... keke... like what the title says - it's a reward for the help I've rendered to C&J.
