MARS will come closest to Earth (approx. 34,649,589 miles apart) on August 27th. It will be (next to the moon) the brightest object in the night sky.

Assumptions:Martians are equally as high-tech & intelligent as mankind.
If Martians do exist, they may well take this great opportunity to pay a visit to Earth (since it's at its closest) on 27th Aug 2005 for one reason or another. Even if they meant no harm, it is highly likely that mankind will view the unidentified craft(s) as possible items used by terrorists... and becomes the side that starts the attack... thus, provoking the Martians to launch the Mars Attack! Well, by then, you would know that Martians do really exist.
Else, we will have to rely on the scientist to continue to "invade" Mars to prove if life exists there. The existence of Martians is still a fallacy and nothing will happen on 27th Aug 2005. Everything will be as per normal and you can still continue to enjoy your great weekend (btw, it's a Sat and there's no work on Sun).
