elements beneath the sky...

Owning 2 masks - featuring my true self & the other self... I've drifted from the normal path. Juz some thoughts, opinions, complaints, gossips, bullshits... beneath the boundaryless sky that we share.

Name:

I am... by my own standards... a simple, sincere, average-looking scopio who can be both quiet and crazy; one who needs time to warm up to people; a homebody; sometimes impatient and stubborn, and erm, a mech engineer who doesn't look and sound like one.

Wedding dinner prep + interview

Last week was real busy. Need to run simulation, extract data only to further reaffirm that certain aspects are still not working as expected. Haiz… anyway, got to pause this part to work on Xi’s wed stuff.

Began her poster making only on Friday night ard 10pm. Worked till 3.30am. Luckily I already got everything figured out – the right resolution, CMYK format, etc… the only worry I had was that my laptop monitor was not appropriately calibrated (still don't know how to).

Saturday was also a nightmare – a mad rush to get all things in order (a bit last minute, I know). Woke up around 8.30am. Then began to pack my room and throw clear some of my stuff over to didi’s room (haha). After that, rushed out around 10+am to Wisma to collect my sleeveless top. Then accompanied Xian to buy facial wash/face & body moisturizer/lip balm/medicines/shampoo/body wash for his Italy trip. Then grab a quick lunch (using Wisma $15 vouchers… only paid $5+ in cash for $20+ meal… hoho). Then hurried down to Sim Lim Sq to help dad buy a 1GB XD card for his Olympus digital camera (which as I found out, is quite good in turning out pics of humans with red eyes – blah… has asked didi to set red-eye reduction). Then went over to OG (Bugis) to help Xian choose a luggage followed by a trip to the moneychanger to get his Euro. The last best bit is to 'fly' over to Bras Brasah to get the A1 poster printed. By then, it was already around 4pm. Chop chop settled for the first printing shop we came across. Paid $56. Then suddenly I was quite worried. Worried about the actual colour, and worried about the quality of the masking I performed on the numerous pics. The moment I saw my printed artwork, I heave a sigh of relief. All my worries were uncalled for. Hee (漂亮,可以见人!)... Then went back to Xian’s house to help him take his IC photo (haha, this time round, using only the 3.2Megapixels camera on his K800i). After taking dinner, rushed down to Causeway Pt to do the printing. Then went home. It was already close to 9+pm. Still yet to charge the videocam batteries, iron clothes, bathe, pack my clothes & stuff for Sunday dinner… by the time I completed all that was to be done, it was already 12+am. And I had to wake up around 4am next morning. It wasn’t my wedding but somehow I was probably equally stressed out with all the logistics/design/montage/poster/coordination/videoing/etc. Real hectic. By noon on Sunday, I was already in power saving mode. Wheez… still half a day more. Much more important stuff to do at night. Test montage, sieve out nice photographs from photographer to play before dinner starts, etc…

Monday… totally burned out… practically slept through the day. Hoho…

Tuesday… went to meet my prospective employer. It was not so much as a face-to-face interview, more like a meet-up session. First met my possible immediate boss – seems quite easy to work with. Then met my possible immediate boss’s boss, a manager – this one is not easy to work with and to make things worse – he is the kind who practice unfair discrimination against married women – I gathered this from one unexpected, and in-my-opinion, unprofessional question he posed to me. Sigh! Is this reality!?! For this, I’m damned sure married women especially pregnant women are OUT of this game. The Dy Director was supposed to be around but he told HR that he don't have to meet me cos he knows me quite well already. Hee. Basically there weren’t any of those standard interview questions posed to me. No tests either (which was good cos’ I found most of these tests irrelevant and stupid anyway). Most of which was to talk about my current work, the kind of work they would like me to do for them, and understand how much I could accomplish within the contractual period. Frankly, I think they are expecting too much out of the short time frame. I actually did ask the HR about the terms/remuneration... Sometimes, when companies paid me too little, I feel short-changed. When they told me a sum which was more than what I had expected, I feel stressed all of a sudden. How come huh? At the moment, I’m inclined towards the industry (vs. academics)… but perhaps I’ll change my mind after the six months stint. In any case, it looks like I’ll just have to take it in my stride, stress for a period, and then R&R and backpack in US after that... ;p
